Description

The Finance Director is a strategic leadership role at the heart of ZAD’s growth. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will own the full financial function of a CMA-regulated fintech company - from day-to-day operations and regulatory reporting through to financial strategy, investor relations and capital planning.

This is a role for a seasoned finance leader who is comfortable operating at both the strategic and operational level, who understands the regulatory nuances of the Kuwaiti capital markets environment, and who can build and lead a high-performing finance function as the company scales.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy and Leadership:
• Define and execute ZAD’s financial strategy in alignment with the company’s growth ambitions and the CEO’s vision.
• Serve as a key strategic advisor to the CEO and executive leadership on all financial matters.
• Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and long-range modeling.
• Build, manage and develop a high-performing finance team as the company grows.

CMA Regulatory Compliance and Reporting:
• Own ZAD’s compliance with all Capital Markets Authority (CMA) financial reporting requirements.
• Ensure timely and accurate submission of all regulatory filings, disclosures and returns.
• Stay current on CMA regulations, circulars and policy changes and proactively adapt internal controls accordingly.
• Lead relationships with the CMA, external auditors and legal counsel on regulatory matters.

Financial Operations and Controls
• Oversee all financial operations including reconciliation, treasury, cash management and banking relationships.
• Implement and maintain a robust internal control environment appropriate for a regulated financial institution.
• Manage risk exposure across currency, liquidity and operational finance.
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of all financial data and reporting systems.

Financial Reporting and Investor Relations:
• Prepare and present financial statements, management accounts and board reporting packs.
• Lead investor relations from a financial standpoint, including reporting, communications and due diligence support.
• Support fundraising, capital raises and any M&A activity with financial modeling and analysis.
• Deliver clear, actionable financial insights to the board and CEO.

Process, Systems and Scalability:
• Lead the design and implementation of scalable financial systems, processes and technology.
• Identify and eliminate inefficiencies across the finance function.
• Partner with Technology and Operations on system integrations that affect financial data flows.
• Support the rollout of new products and markets with robust financial infrastructure.
Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field.
• 12+ years of progressive finance experience, including at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
• Deep knowledge of Capital Markets Authority regulations and financial compliance requirements in Kuwait.
• Proven experience in a regulated financial services, fintech, brokerage or capital markets environment.
• Strong command of financial reporting, treasury, budgeting and internal controls.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop finance teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills at board and executive level.

Preferred
• Professional qualification: CFA, CPA, ACCA, CA or equivalent
• Experience working with or reporting to the Kuwait Capital Markets Authority (CMA)
• Exposure to US-listed equities, ETFs or multi-market capital markets platforms
• Experience supporting fundraising, investor relations or M&A processes
• Strong Arabic and English language skills.
